Beech Starship in 1:33

Here is my next project, the Beech Starship in 1:33 designed by Marian Aldenhovel.

This is my first model that makes use of formers and joining strips, so this will be a learning experience for me. I plan to build it in flight, but will build the cockpit and cabin interior along with clear windows even though I don't think it will be seen very much without the airstairs open. Why? Practice and because it's there I guess.

Here is my progress so far:

I decided to leave the canard skins off until later, I think it will be easier to get them "just right" when there is a little more fuselage put together. I have started on the cockpit now, pictures to follow. A big thank you to Willygoat for his NC&J build thread on this bird, I've allready used it as a reference for the cockpit work!

Don't bother

I would't bother with the interior details. Of course I was building mine to fly so I wanted to keep it light.

Glad I could be of some assistance. I'm still hoping to get back to it and fix some things that got squished.

Look forward to this. I've yet to build it even though I translated the instructions to English (on the Z forum), way back when. One thing that I failed to update was that the canards can be either extended or retracted when on the tarmac. Since you're making a flying model, it doesn't matter much. I thought that I'd add that note just in case you make a static version also.

Nice build. I have a question, Jobeaux or Willygoat. Where can I find the build thread Joubeaux referred to? Is it here om PaperModelers or somewhere else? I will follow this build, I have this model to and plan to build it, but RL is closing in....

Will, check the forum listing in the contest area. Go the NJ&c listing. It's in there.

Yeah, it won't show much at all, I think my biggest reason to do it is for the practice. Or it could just be the same reason people climb mountains... "cause they're there"

Yeah, squishing sucks. I've still never finished a Goose. A child got my first one, and the cat mistook my USN repaint for a bed. Someday...

Thanks Pete! So far I'm really liking my first experience with joining strips.

The model is now available with the instructions in English as well as German. If that is your translation, well done, you did a fine job.

Cockpit!

Here's a shot of the cockpit, and I'm gonna call it complete. I Left off the throttles and other controls from the center console after dropping, losing, and reprinting the parts twice. (Stupid dark floors, grumble....)

Beech Starship in 1:33-beechstarship-cockpit1.jpg

This is another first for me on this model, my very first interior. Really need to get some of those self closing tweezers to help with not losing tiny parts, all I have right now are some hemostats that are too tough on the paper. Anybody have any suggestions on where to find some of those really cool little self closing tweezers?
