GreMir Curtiss P-40 Tomahawk Mk IIb
Ok, time to build a plane
Part sheets are already printed and waiting for 24 hours to make sure ink is completely dry before spraying with sealant. I have a question to P-40 experts - both P-40 Tomahawks used by 112 Squadron and AVG were using British 0.303cal guns in the wings but I found that there were two types of those guns with and without flash hider. Which ones were used on those P-40? The only photo of the AVG P-40 I found is inconclusive....

According to American Volunteer Group Colors and Markings the wing guns were not fitted from the factory and had to be sourced by CAMCO. The first AVG squadron was fitted with 7.92 mm wing guns while the second and third squadrons were fitted with U.S. .30 caliber guns. I think the 7.92mm guns were the ones with the flash hider. I'm pretty sure the 112 squadron aircraft were fitted with british .303 caliber gun without the flash hider.

Wait a minute...who are you and what have you done with Mike Krol? Did he hire you to do this build for him? As for the recolor, I'm pretty sure the colors are out of whack, the code letter style is wrong and the roundels are too big or too small and everyone knows the Flying Tigers were in China, not North Africa. You go ahead and have fun with the build but we want the real Mike back when you are done!
My lawyer says I must include the following statement - Combining prescription pain killers with alcoholic beverages is not recommended - especially if you are going to post publicly. You have been warned. |

Thanks.
Found few good quality photos but somebody should talk to those ground crews - they put protectors on the guns! Between those two photos (same plane) I would say that the Brownings do not have flash hiders...

Thanks.
I think I have sorted out the 112 Squadron issue and will deal with AVG confusion when the time comes. I will have to find photos of a a specific plane and stick with it....

Excellent film clip! I wonder if there is any film footage of 112 Squadron?
