Glad the pics will help you. On the vacuum, it's there because the restoration crew is still working on the mid and lower decks of the nose section. The plane has been a part of the museum since 1954ish, so there's lots of dust and dirt.
As far as the paint in the cockpit goes, the whole interior is painted the olive green color. That was standard for most U.S. aircraft of the time. The front glazing frame was painted black to reduce sun glair for the pilots (that's what I was told when I asked the same question).
