OBP_Murphy AH-54A
Hello all.
Finally just finished Murphy's Very good AH-54A. This post will have completed build pictures then a selection of the more difficult ares. My thoughts of this model: The body of the Cheyenne is rather good and true to the shape of the real aircraft but (sorry Murphy) the Weapons are ether out of scale or just not correct. I decided to make up my own FFAR launchers and Tripe TOW Packages plus I put the outer wing mounts in their proper position. Murphy, if you want I can send the PDF file with the corrected FFAR and Tripe TOW packages to you. 1/38 Lockheed AH-56 Cheyenne Paper Model - ECardmodels.com Shop - Downloadable models and crafts Thanks to all the designers that let us build they models. PS: Oh yes. If anyone is in Huntsville Al after the 2nd of Aug can see this model hanging at the HobbyTownUSA there.

Engine Intakes
As promised close up pictures of an area that had me confused for a bit.
The intakes, Housing and Transmission. I used tabs added to the fuselage and transmission.

Spontoons
Ok these had me the most baffled.
First I tried just 6 small tabs but these proved to flimsy so I put in tabs that basically ran the entire top and bottom of the spontoons. These worked much better.

Landing Gear and Wheels.
Last for now unless someone wants to see others pictures of the build.
The Wheels: TO get nice round wheel. I cut a stripe of paper just a touch thinner then the wheel that's about 11" (27.94cm) long and coil it within the wheel. This usually gets you a nice even circle. The gear: I used some wooden sticked Q-Tips for the main parts and smaller toothpicks for the braces. They Q-Tip goes from the bottom of the tire to the top of the spontoon for strength and stability. Used a silver Sharpie marker for color. Next model: OBP OH-6 IN the same scale as the Cheyenne

Looks way better than mine did. As to the weapons...I kept reading about all the weaponry it was supposed to pack, but I could never find any pictures. Supposedly it had 6 hardpoints, but all I could find was a drawing with 4 circles, representing rocket pods. The only reference I could find on TOW missiles was the tubes, and they didn't give a size, so I guessed. I will be the first to admit that my Google skills are sub par, if not downright awful.
Go ahead and put the corrected PDF up in the freebies section here. As for everything else. I prefer butt gluing to tabs, and had everything pretty much set up so you glued the engine together as one piece, then laid it in the groove. The sponsons should have just covered up their perspective gray areas. |

That's a nice looking model there. I don't think I have ever seen a Cheyenne modeled before. Looks great!

That's my goal; to make sure nobody has to say "Too bad there isn't a paper model of that aircraft".
