That looks great! Makes mine look rather amatuerish, but Billy had been egging us on to build one of these two for some time and I took the bait, in 1/33 with the spit, and although I didn't put the time/effort, I could still see that it was a very fine model. The problem with putting it in the spit is that the forward formers loose all support, so nothing to hold the skin in place. One way to get over that is to build the formers, then shape the forward skin peices in areas you would like skinned, using the formers as a mold, but not placing the formers in the model.

Or use the reverse of the formers (ie. the former shaped hole<G>) to shape it and then add a card doubler strip around the edges. The two layers should hold it's shape and be reasonably prototypical.

Taking that one step further (and harder) would be outer and inner skins of bond paper with the card edge doublers. All of the layers would really keep it's shape.

Hello Leif,

I have tried to download the engine, both from the direct link and via the CZ one, but it doesn't work. Do you have an other place where it is downloadable? Would like to build it in the Vb I will be starting around X-mas.

Thanks,

EJ

I've got it - send me a PM with an e-mail address that will accept large attachments and I'll send it.

The original .pdf is over 10 Mb I can break it into smaller files for e-mailing.

Regards,

Charlie

EJ, Dustin - if you are registered at Kartonbau.de, you can download it from their downloads section, also Alin's other engine models:

Kartonbau.de - Alles rund um's Kartonmodell... | kartonbau.de - Download-Archiv

or, more specifically, the Merlin 45:

Kartonbau.de - Alles rund um's Kartonmodell... | kartonbau.de - Download-Archiv

ZShare was pretty good but a couple of weeks ago I found i was no longer able to download anything, it just keeps going in circles. I have adblock features disabled, since I don't use Internet Explorer, I don't know if it is a Firefox issue or something else.

I just joined Kartonbau.de, there is a lot of interesting stuff there and enough of it is in English, thank God, as my German would surely insult someone. Easy and quick process.

It does the exact same thing to me as well. I'd tried downloading a software patch from there and it went through the loop constantly. =(
