Here's a couple of photos that one the guys on Long Island posted on the model car board I frequent. This was at Republic airport. Notice it still has the Quantas paint on the tail and the right side. So maybe they're just using it for some closeups and ground shots, or to rotoscope over.

oh, maybe...I stand corrected
there have been a few exterior scenes shot on the ground
around the aircraft and with boarding ladders.

Thats probably where a plane like that would be used.

Obviously back then, at many airports,
you got on and off the aircraft outside,
on movable boarding ladders
(unlike today where you board through tunnel walkways)

You can tell in many landing scenes, that the aircraft are CGI
because the wheels "float" across the tarmac and don't seem to make realistic contact. lol

Looks like what it is set up for. Being a small airport they probably don't have the tunnels. Hollywood-Burbank still uses boarding ladders. Orange County (John Wayne) was using them until they remodeled the main terminals a few years ago from what I've heard. Haven't flown out of there in 20 years.

So I stumble across this thread AFTER I post that I cannot find either a Starship or Caesar's Chariot to request a recolor for the various bands that used these two planes to tour the U.S in the 70's.
I'm sure the Led Zeppelin and Rolling Stones paintjobs would be highest on the list.

Dear Peter,
I just got an email from Robert Tauxe informing me that you would like to repaint my version of the 707 in BOAC livery....you have my total OK to do this! You can use the website Bob Bendorf's Paper Models to download the Pan Am templates for repaint. If you need any other help let me know. Cheers, Bob Bendor

I have sent an email to Bob thanking him for allowing me to do this re-paint I would also like to thank Robert for getting in touch with him - this has been a great help. So after the original model is finished {not be long now} i will start on the re-paint. No idea for the time scale, but a bit at a time is all i can do.
does this mean there will a download availible of model in boac colours??

I'd love to see this in the download section, I'd even pay for it. Why stop with the boac paint scheme, there's so many more to choose from.
My ultimate kit would be a 1/50 b-707 in TWA, Pan Am, and American lightning bolt schemes.

If the model was 100 dollars I'd still buy it.

I'm willing to sell it for 100 dollars... Interested?

PM me.
