Smile Convair XC-99 in 1/100 scale

Hi People!

Aaron send me for test the huge Convair XC-99 the cargo version of B-36, is one of the bigest plane in the world and I believe is bigest piston engine land plane build.

The original model is in 1/121 scale but I enlarged to 1/100, the wingspam is 70 cm (My wife spank me).

Beside the size is a excellent model whitout fit problems.

Size comparations (same scale)

With Fokker D VII

With N.A. F-86 Sabre

With RB-57, note the Martin RB-57 is a bigger Wingspam, is a small in comparation of huge XC-99

Best regards my friends!

Very nice model!

I heard about XC-99 that first it had a single wheels as a main landing gear, but the tarmac in only few airports could stand that kind of impact during landing!:-)

I saw that aircraft everyday I drove to work when I worked at the headquarters for the Air Force Commissary Service. It was rotting away in a field, fenced off from visitors with a sign posted stating it was the XC-99.

I was so happy to hear the Air Force Museum acquired it and was restoring the monster for display.

Aaron...looks like a bang-up design...gomidefilho...outstanding build.

I hadn't heard that...good news indeed and so many of those one-off prototypes have been lost to us - will be interesting to see how they fit it into the R&D Hall - or maybe they will fit the R&D Hall into it?

I used to see that on the ramp at Kelly AFB. It was fun to see them taking it apart to move it.
