Smile More progress. Picture coming

Continued work on the cockpit area. Completed the ejection seat. It is a really simple one, but adequate for this kit.

For the canopy, I have the GPM company vacuformed one which is very good. I trimmed it and then dipped it in Future floor polish to give it that shiny look.

Will work on completing the cockpit and then get the landing gear built.

For now, I am getting ready to go to the Iruma airbase airshow on Thursday featuring the Blue Impulse air demonstration team. They expect alot of folks to be there ( it is a national holiday on November 3rd ). Anyhow, should be fun.

Cheers

Smile Pictures included

Here are some pictures of the wing pylons that are only partially complete ( they need the long spikes in front ), as well as the canopy pieces and the seat partially completed.

It's a shame. If I were in Tokyo, I could take a first hand look at your clean build.

Yu-san

Thank you, but it is not one of my better builds. I got a bit sloppy with some parts and also I have not built for 5 months prior to this one and am a bit rusty.

But it is fun.

I did bring some of my paper and plastic models with me so you can see them as well when you get back.

I would like to build some of the interesting Japanese planes like the Shinden , Kika and the Raiden. So I will purchase those next.

Did you make the canopy, and if so ...how?

Canopy

I purchased a pre made vacuformed canopy from Gomix from Poland ( see the first picture in the first post of this thread ). I also purchased the laser forms as well as the wheels. So those extra parts are usefull.

Normally I will purchase a canopy if it is commercially available. I will make my own only as a last resort since it is very labor intensive and the results are mixed ( at least for me ).

The process I always use for canopies ( vacuformed or plastic injection ) is to dip them in Future floor wax. It makes them much clearer and shiny. For plastic models you can use CA glue without clouding the transparency.

I will snap some more photos and will post.

I got most of the landing gear pieces made and attached to the aircraft. I have to make sure that the aircraft is level ( not a problem since I drill metal pins into the struts and can adjust the length before I have the glue set ).

Pictures soon.

Anyone seen a photo of the cockpit of this aircraft? My reference is lacking that. Specifically where the sight is located above the glare shield

Thanks

Isaac
