Thanks, willygoat. I think other than the Bumblebee of OBP's design, this is among the few small planes in their original scale of about 1/20 to 1/23.

ATR-42 DHL Version, originally 1/56, Murph's Models
After some five years since the last post, Oddballs Productions has evolved into Murph's Models but the designer is still the same, Aaron. His ATR-42 in DHL livery is now presented to let this thread wake up. Many of Aaron's models relating to navy planes of the world are presented in the thread - Navy Planes in 1/200. So all others non-navy planes will come here. And they are not all oddballs but include other more common ones.
For now the ATR-42 has got one more engine with props, hopefully spinning six-bladed, to go. I have also scratched built wheel wells and am now exploring how to build the landing gears with the parts provided in the kit. Maybe some add-ons are needed, we'll see how it goes. Papermate |

Damn, that's small !
I had difficulties with the main landing gear at 1/100 scale, good luck at 1/200 scale ! For now the model looks very good. Best regards, Ronan

ATR-42 DHL Version, originally 1/56, Murph's Models
Thank you all, my friends, for your kind comments. The model is now completed with spinning 6-bladed props that are quite fragile to play with (okay, just blow spin only and don't finger spin). I have added another coat of clear paint to better patch up the seams that were too heavily colour-edged. The landing gear struts are made of aluminium foils rolled up in small tubes to fit. The main landing struts were fixed onto the fuselage in my own way without using the original parts in the kit. Ah, yes, the paper used is ordinary paper, maybe 70 gsm, a little thinner than the normal printing ones. To strengthen the parts, they were laminated on another sheet of the same weight. To make the props I photoshopped all the blades and arranged and layered them on the hexagonal guide to print out as one part. Then carefully did the trimming to accommodate the hub of the props and finally installed my own spinning mechanism to make the props work. Almost forgot to mention putting some lead to the nose section to make the plane stand on all three.
Well, let's go to the pictures now. Papermate |
