Looks like you've got the main wings folded nicely.

Something I've yet to master.

The wing fillets look good too.

Nice Ted and hope your birthday was good also, you are picking nice kits to resize, not usual more common kits, and the weathering on the kit looks good to me.

The wing joint turned out great, one area that I always seem to have trouble with. Very nice and smooth joint!

Looking forward to more when you have a chance!

Cheers!
Jim

canopys 101

Thankyou guys. Yes I had a typical birthday, typical dad presents, a lunch with the family including a fight between the children, followed by a trip to the bike shop for the present i wanted ( a new brain case, er helmet), to replace the one I cracked doing a jump mountain biking. Then home to some nagging followed by a stiff shot of some 12 year old single malt that the nurses bought for me, then some steady modeling, Finally!!!!
And this segment is called canopies 101, actually one of my favourite parts of an aircraft kit. I get to use putty, an oven a shop vac a home built vacuform machine and some .10 vivak palstic. The next series of pics shows the process, canopy mold to heating to done. as usual the SFFM of the camera shows some aweful fwd gap that actually isn't there for real....

Hey Ted, there's always something to learn by following your posts! Thank you for exposing your technique to make the canopy aircraft!

Marco

P.s. good model!

something to land on

Thanks Marco, have to get the aviation bug out of my system before I return to the sea! The next segment is a simple set of landing gear, rooled tubes, layered wheels with a little detail to the gear, almost done...

Last kit for me 2011

Finished at last! This pretty much ends the model building season for me 2011. The kits finishing touches were a small scoop on the vental wings, the pitot tube a wierd double cone assembly 1mm wide by 2mm long on the port fuselage and the antenna and wires. I have come to love these bestmodel kits, very much bang for the buck, all have a happy new year !!!!
