Post script, 1/33 vs 1/50

As a post script, In photo'd the Halinski 1/33 done a few years ago compared to the Bestpapermodels. The color diff stands out and the very noticible retracting wire on the fuselage landing gear doors. Maybe when teh sirit moves me I'll add it the the Bestpapermodel kit. Finished will post next year!!!!

Wonderfully done, Ted!

This is an amazingly detailed kit for the scale, and very well executed. The shape of the tires is superb as are the various little bits you've added...this is pretty much a stock kit build, is it? That says alot about the quality of this design, as well as your skills.

It was a pure pleasure reading this build thread and seeing you put this kit together so very well...congratulations on a superb build!

The comparison with the Halinski build is great, you've done this kit very proud to be able to have such a comparison.

Again, thanks for sharing this build with all of us, it was quite enjoyable and fun to read!

Happy New Years!!

Cheers!
Jim

Thanks Jim. The only non stock part was the control column. I can't understand how they have you roll and layer various itty bitty parts and design the stick a a flat piece.

Saving One's Sanity from the Whining and Yammering of LIfe...,

Nicely built Ted.

I think some of the designers get pushed by the yea old schedule resulting in incomplete detailing. Anyone solve the shamrock detail yet?...,

Bien Cordialement, +Gil

Somehow, I lost the bubble on this build, Ted, and missed the conclusion.

Both models are beautiful!

One more question

Ted, what is the putty you used in making the canopy master? I assume it hardened up somehow - Sculpey perhaps? If so, did it suffer any shrinkage with baking?

Thanks for sharing your build in such an informative manner. Hats off!

Robert it is plain white sculpey baked per instructions. there is minimal @ 1 % or less shrinkage. This is actually desireable since the plastic you use over the mold brings the vacuformed part back up to 100%. I've used sculpey for years and still have the original molds for kits from @ 2003 or so.

Thank you!

That is an excellent tip. I've seen Sculpey used for lots of modeling activities, most interesting being scale models of dinosaurs (Sculpy over wire and foil armatures.)
