If you follow my FB or the french paper modeling forum, you may have noticed I've started releasing some second gen MiG-21s (PF, PFS, PFM with both types of canopies). They're labelled as Beta 2 because I still need to do some beta-builds (no suitable glue at the moment and some printer issues). Among the 15 or so different models already done are these variants. There's only one complex camo for now (the egyptian PFS).

I made a minor edit to all center fuselages since I took most screencaps. There's a thin rectangle that should only be on one side of the fuselage. The egyptian PFS has the revised version.

You need some opposition for those Vietnam war era Phantoms Bruno created.

The versions I've released s far are Vietnamese (1 PFL and 2 late PFM, one of them in overall green) and egyptian (an early PFM from the 6-day war, so don't use the gunpod as Egypt only used them after the war)

edit: the PFL is just a PF tailored for North Vietnam. It's identical to the version delivered to the Warsaw Pact countries (MiG-21PF/Izdeliye 76 version A) with a few changes in electronics : according to the Yefim Gordon book, the ARK-10 ADF system (whatever it was) lacked the distance measuring module, the radio altimeter was deleted and the KSI compass system was replaced with the more refined KSI-2. Later versions were generally available in 2 variants for export : version A (Warsaw Pact countries) and a further degraded version B for 3rd world countries.

You're welcome!

If you want to recolor or play lego a bit, here are blank templates. They're Inkscape svg files and only missing the parts that are specific to the first 2 Ye-7 prototypes. They have 3 layers, from top to bottom:
- model (the model itself)
- markings (empty)
- colors (empty)

I usually do all the coloring on the separate "colors" layer except for the wheels, nose landing gear and missile "wings" where there is no other way than to do it on the "model" layer itself as some parts are indeed filled with white and not "empty". It's obvious if you draw a big yellow rectangle under the model.
