The last two days, I have been working on the wings. I had to make several attempts to get satisfactory wheel bays. The solution I found was to print larger shapes than those described in the Halinski kit and build a model to get the correct shape when gluing. Now wheel bays are in place and the wing coat fit correctly.

Glad to see the wheel bays are in place and to your satisfaction. On the only Halinski model I've built (the Airacobra) I finally realized that the wheel bays were supposed to be glued to the inside of the wing skins. The skins, with glued on wheel bays, were then glued to the framework. Perhaps that is why there was room to spare in your model? - L.

Leif,
Thank you for your comments and your advices. I understand your method to build the wheel bays. Having built the bays, I realized it was only a little space in the framework to put them up. I found it hazardous to glue the bays inside the wing skins. So I decided to proceed in reverse order. It was a good idea in relation to the result. This kit is only my fourth project. Actually I test and discover new methods of building. Here are four pictures of the actual state of my work. Dayn |

Hello Dayn,
I'm glad to see a Halinski recoloured; I have an idea on the Focke-Wulf 190 ... but that's another theme. Your plane is in a good shape - but what do you think about colouring the edges? With lovely greetings the Wilfried |

Wilfried,
Thank you for your comments. I also have others project of recolouring: Messerchmitt 109-G6 or P-51D with swiss colours. I renounce to colour edges for three reasons: a) two years ago, I built a Spifire from Halinski and tried various methods of colouring edges (pencil, Neocolor, aquarel, ...). It's very difficult to work with accuracy and no result was satisfying enough (picture). b) I noticed that the gluing was of lower quality c) I prefer to see white edges here and there. It proves that the model is made of paper rather than plastic and this gives a "soul". Best, Dayn |

The front of the wing is in place and the shark mouth is finally over. Now I have to build the radiator ... and it won't be easy to get the good shape.
