Morane Saulnier 406 / Halinski 2/2006 / 1:33

A few months ago, I purchased a kit from Papel3d (Recortables, maquetas y juegos en papel).
It was the swiss version of the Morane Saulnier 406 edited by Tri Krabki. When I opened the kit, I have been desappointed by the level of accuracy. I ordered a second kit edited by Halinski with the laser cut frames. Obviously, this kit satisfied me but this plane had french markings. I decided to scan and redraw the plane to get a swiss version. The plane has red and white stripes adopted during the fall of 1944. These markings were intended to avoid confusion with belligerent aircrafts. A few weeks earlier two swiss bf-109 had been shot down by american P-51. Indeed the swiss air force attempted to intercept all planes entering the national airspace ( 244 bombers and fighters had been confined or shot down at the end of the war). The plane I am redrawing has a shark's mouth and I think you'll like it too.

Morane Saulnier 406 / Halinski 2/2006 / 1:33

Hello,
Here are some more pictures of my work.
308 Morane Saulnier have been produced in Switzerland under licence. As the swiss version was lightly different, I have made tests to get a correct shape especially for the radiator. To facilitate my work I have choosen 1:16 scale.

Beautiful work, so far. The Axis and Allied aircraft that came into the hands of Switzerland, Sweden, and Ireland and were taken over for use in the respective air forces are a fascinating subject.

I salute your choice of scale, and your recoloring effort. Will now follow this thread. Good luck! - Leif

PS. At a time of your convenience, what software, recoloring techniques, etc. are you using?

Don, Leif,
Thanks for your comments.
I use Adobe Illustrator CS5 for Mac. This soft is very useful for such a work allowing very accurate drawing and an easy colorisation. I have renounced to include traces wich wouldn't be realistic and would require a lot of time to draw. I admire the work of Halinski wich give this kit a high value.

Fine work so far on this. Nice, unusual, choice of plane.
Looking forward to more.

Illustrator - interesting. Same as me, although I've only got CS3 and I don't suppose I will ever get something more advanced.

I take it that you scan the original first, and then retrace every line and color field? A lot of work, I know, I've been there, but excellent result. Those Halinski designs really, really deserves redrawing and then enlarging and recolouring. I believe you are right on track!

What was that about not including "traces"? I'm not sure what you mean...

Glad to watch this.

Leif

Leif,

Leif,

You are right in your description of my method to redraw the kit. I am sorry I use a wrong word to describe signs of wear (I don't speak very well English and my dictionary suggests "traces". I have learned a new word).
Congratulations for the quality of your own realizations. I always watch to them with great interest.

The wing structure is now finished. I also worked on the cockpit.

The cockpit looks great

Have you done any extra work on it?

Tim
