Thanks again frederico and Pete..by chance have you seen MH434 Pete? I understand it has flown based in Duxford? I'm not sure where exactly that is...(One might notice the order of lettering on the starboard side, she has been painted both ways, presently says B ZD which does not seem correct to me but as it has been painted both ways no real way to go wrong there)

For those of you wanting to build a mark ix here is a cool link. It is necessary for me to design my own forward canopy windscreen as is very different than the Halinsky mark vb

Amazing model you are doing, not only because is a Halinski, but because it's Birder Version.
Nice! Can you tell a little about how you made the nose cone, please? |

Thanks Gerardo, very kind of you..(probably any Halinsky is better to build as designed but not as much fun that way). Yes about the nose cone, a bit of a challenge since the kit comes with a cone for 3 bladed prop. I made the 3 bladed one from the kit, then glued on the base of the 4-bladed P-51 cone for placement of the blades. with extra paper and glue put another layer to cover the forward cone too, then sealed, sanded and painted it. Repeated a few times to remove imperfections...the shape of the kit blades are nice so will just make an extra one.

The last few pictures really show how well you've recolored the Halinski Spitfire! The cockpit looks very snug and well placed.
You've made a very smooth fuselage Glen, and I feel inclined to ask how you've accomplished it. Can you give any specific instructions to achieve such a smooth, and seamless fuselage segments? I'm interested in trying these techniques out :D! I noticed you've built a partial Merlin engine to go along with one of your previous Spitfires (?) How well does the Merlin fit into the Halinski kit? I plan to build this one myself beginning April, and I'd really like to include that stunning Merlin engine. |

Thanks kindly, The Orange..actually the seams are mostly improved with acrylic paint, to match the colors and if wiped off quick (the paper pretty well sealed with spray acrylic clear gloss 2-3 coats) then the paint even fills the seam slightly which helps alot to make them look better. Here's my take on the cockpit canopy forward, since the kit one could not be used with the external armor glass plate rather than the internal one (looks alot different), and changed some things behind the seat former dont' ask how but the seatbelts havn't benn put back yet... now practicing some way to make a better seam for the wings.. this model has a most challenging way to do that with the seam along the forward edge. The merlin model by the way is a nice little model in 1/33 (very little) but doesnt really go well in the spit unless you can figure some way to make the nose without formers. (or remove the formers) so I don't have a great idea there
