RC FG Huey

Threw this together for my brother who was in town over the weekend and brought his RC helicopters. He mentioned bodies were expensive ($25) so I showed him how to make his own. I was pretty sloppy with the build but until we knew it would fly I didn't want to invest too much time. Flight characteristics didn't change too much. Body is a little heavier than stock and if anything makes the helicopter a little more stable in flight.

"in flight" shot with the "pilot" and out old man who also came in town to visit.

We're both AD USAF and do fairly frequent deployments. I've been doing paper models during the last few since the materials are easily transported. I think after this weekend my brother may have caught the bug.

Exceptional idea - I've got one of those foam bodied helos but haven't even tried to give it a "real" fuselage. Nicely done!

I've mated the HH-3E from ecardmodels to the S107 mini copter. Had to turn the tail rotor to face down rather than up so I could mount the tail. Unfortunately, the ink ran during water operations. I also have the GMP 1/33 scale HH-53 halfway fitted to a T-Rex 450. Finally, there's a free giant bee model out there that also fits the small indoor helicopters. Too many projects, not enough time.

I'd seen a couple copter mods on the FG site, but this is the first I've seen one in operation. Very nice.

" I was pretty sloppy with the build"
But it still looks better than the original. Much better. Great idea!
EDIT: and it gives you something to do while the batteries on the thing reload
