Will Aldridge's XP-72 Beta Build (also)

This thread will document another beta build of Will's formerly mostly dead XP-72 design. Fortunately Miracle Max provided a pill which has revived the model and workbenches are buzzing with activity. 3Turner has been involved with this project almost from the beginning and has two builds going in another thread (see the link below my signature) - one is gear up and one is with legs. I'm not that ambitious but will try to photograph and document my experience with the model. If I can successfully build it then believe me, anyone can! I need to get a bit further along on the build and then I'll start posting pictures and my interpretation of the build sequence. Stay tuned and I hope the thread is informative (or at least amusing...)

OK here we go. Most of the fuselage frame pieces.

Will Aldridge's XP-72 Beta Build (also)-72-001.jpg

I started with the cockpit floor and walls...

Followed by the instrument panel support and forward bulkhead.

The instrument panel (front and back) and also the rudder pedals have been attached to the frame. The middle size instrument cans are plastic rod, the large and small are capped tubes as designed.

The next two shots show the stick, seat and seat belt installation.

Bulkheads A11 and A10 were installed under the cockpit to provide more support. From this point on the wing spars will be in constant danger of bumping and snagging on things. BE CAREFUL! This photo shows also the starboard cockpit wall installed.

And finally, the port wall (with all its fiddly bits) is installed and the cockpit is done for now.

Next installment will be the completion of the fuselage frame.

Pretty Nice! Looks like maybe the interior of the seat(C17b) might not fit perfectly? Looks like the front of the seat pan needs to be taller? If you see something that is not perfect and you even suspect it's the design please let me know.

btw I haven't checked email yet today so maybe you already have.

Thanks for your help.

I will have to try another seat to be sure. I made an error in the build of the seat and I think that is what caused the apparent "shortness." Robert's build looks OK so I think it was builder error here.

Will - rebuild of seat (correctly) verifies that your design is perfect the way it is. My error on the first one was in putting a sharp fold at the bottom rear of the inner liner rather than the soft curve that was supposed to be there. Designer - 1, Builder - 0.

BTW - The A27/A4 tab-slot issue I mentioned before is a non-issue. The tab on A27 goes the slot at the end of A32 and the assembly is then glued to the rear face of A4. Designer - 2, Builder - 0.

C12 goes over the long part of the control stick on the floor of the cockpit with the black part going up against the control stick.

See the last two pictures in this post from my thread: http://www.papermodelers.com/forum/105077-post2.html
