Custom Winter Camouflage ME-109

I'd recommend colouring it as AF 609. The Me.109F2 captured and flown at AAE Farnborough for about 6 months during 1942.

Not many of that one exist, which is a pity, because it was one of the best examples of a then standard production model.

These are a few images I was able to find at short notice.
Unfortunately, none are of "AF 609" but there are enough there for a reasonable choice.

I may have mis-remembered the image I have in mind, though I feel that because the image was itself so old it may not yet have been posted on the internet.

In either case, there are a couple of simple colourschemes in the images I've posted links to.

The last image is a cockpit picture, for instrument placings references if needed.

From memory, AF 609 only lasted about 6 months in any case: a newly arrived "test pilot" managed to let the engine overheat in flight, and when it "ran away" as a result, the aircraft became uncontrollable and he bailed-out at about 7000 feet. Exit one reasonably pristine Bf 109 F2 from the AAE roster.

Now that I've found some time to work on models, I finished up the first page of the second ME-109 repaint. I'm not quite sure who flew this one, but it sure does look nice. So far I've colored the first page and gonna start the second right now. Anyway, here it is.

Just finished the fuselage.

Your "based off of" picture is titled "priller", Jarrod.
"Pips" Priller was one of two Lufwaffe Schlagetter pilots to make a successful attack on the Normandy beaches of D-Day, June 6, 1944. This is briefly shown in the movie "The Longest Day", though the aircraft making the strafing run are P51 B's (?) in German markings.

The Bf109 E3 in the image would have been the aircraft (Josef (?) someone please correct me if I'm in error with his given name) Priller flew in 1940 and early 1941.

From that image, almost any aircraft from his then (1940) unit could be painted.
That said his own aircraft of the time is a worthy subject for a model.

Wow thanks for the info Uyraell. I was originally going to do the AF 609, but I don't have the correct colors for the desert camouflage.

AF 609 wasn't in desert camouflage in any case, Jarrod.

If you see TK 814 in the image links I posted it is close-enough to what AF 609 was wearing in colours when it crashed. Basically, Earth Brown on lower fuselage, Dark Green on upper fuselage, and Sky Blue on the underside. Much the same colourscheme as any Hurricane or Spitfire of the early war era.

That said, you're probably better off doing Priller's aircraft or one from that same Luftwaffe unit: much easier on the eyes and "more natural' for the aircraft itself.
Priller himself was a famous pilot, and, like Galland, had more than once clashed with the upper echelons of his own High Command.
