G4M2 Betty: A question

Has anyone assembled Oddball's kit of the Mitsubishi G4M2 Betty?

I'm trying to figure out how to fit the engine assemblies to the wings. I'm not sure from the diagram exactly what to do, or where (or when) to cut the assembly to slide the engine onto the wing. Any help would be appreciated.

I haven't built this one myself, but it looks as if you assemble the nacelle and, when glue is dry, cut out the openings for the wing and slide the nacelles onto the wing. If I were doing it, I would add some gluing tabs to the inside of the nacelle.

That's generally how Murph designs his engine fairings. Build up the whole pod, then cut away the dark gray areas when it's all set up.

I've found that makes it a lot easier to get the shapes right.

Is there a picture of the completed housing before gluing to the wing? I'm having a difficult time picturing what it should look like.

Just the one that comes on the page. Think of it like a small fuselage.

To illustrate it, please see photos which are almost self-explanatory. Built it just now and sorry for the rush.
One advice is to pre-cut the cut-out part especially the curve parts, leaving the straight ones slightly attached.
Don't cut them through yet, wait for the final (and the most interesting) moment to snip it off with scissors.
This will give you a very clean and satisfactory cut. The engine dial will have to
be trimmed smaller when fitting inside. It will not be noticeable though smaller.
This is my experience with Aaron's designs and of course there are other ways.
Hope it may help.

Thanks for your reply, murphyaa. So far I've found the model very easy to assembly, with nice, tight fitting parts. It's one of the best I've ever attempted.

Thank you, papermate! That was very instructive. I'm going to re-print and give it another try this week sometime. Thanks again, for your time and effort.
