This bird is really taking shape. I agree with you, I like seperate control surfaces. It really adds to the overall effect. Great work. True craftsmanship.

Spinner and propeller
The kit has two versions of the spinner. The conventional cone sections and also the petal design. I hate the petal design and only use it for small pieces and never for a spinner. However, the Avia used a spinner that is not exactly represented in conical forms. I decide to make my own out of wood. So I cut out a small block ( pine is good ), drilled out a hole in the center and glued a wood dowel to act as a shaft. When dry, I started turning it on my small lathe. However, a lathe is not needed, and you can do it in a hand drill as well.
After shaping it and getting the correct diameter, I sanded it with fine paper and drilled out the 3 prop holes using the kit part as a template. I then built the 3 prop blades and dry fit to the spinner. Do not glue it in place yet. I then painted the spinner . Primer first and then the red paint. Multiple coats were used with light sanding in between. When spinner is dry and ready, I cut the shaft to size and fit to the forward nose section. For the shaft bearing, I rolled card stock around the prop shaft and then to the inside of the nose section. I elected not to lock it in place in case I needed to remove the prop at a later time for storage or transport. The prop blades are 2 sections glued around a round dowel. I am not very good with props and for now these will do. I press fit the blades in the 3 holes in the spinner. No glue for now. Isaac |

Externals
Antennas and probes
Finish the plane by getting the ADF loop behind the cockpit top , the radio mast is not 100% clear to me as the photos I see show it attached to the fuselage top, but the kit instruction as well as some other reference shows it on the canopy rear top and swinging with it? I attached to the canopy. The canopy was attached in the open or hinged position. Air speed probe is attached to the left wing tip and there is a small whip antenna on the wing bottom. I am not sure if it was present on the Israeli Avia, but I installed it anyway Drop tank Last item is the fuel drop tank. I built it, but again have not seen any reference that they were attached to the Israeli versions. The lower center hard point is retained though just in case. Isaac |

Complete
She is done and now will take place next to my small IAF collection consisting of the Kfir, A-4N, Super Mystere and the Dassault Ouragan. ( I will post pictures of those later ).
I have to admit that even though I rarely build propeller aircraft any more, this was a great kit that is also good looking. It is also appealing to me since it is not your plain vanilla Me-109, of which there are way too many models being built. The Merlin powered Me-109; CASA HA-1112 Buchon would be interesting as well. I am switching gears next to a Japanese aircraft ( yes, with a prop !) Finished pictures here: Cheers Isaac |

Hay issac
nice going mate ,very nice spinner . I would suggest to paint the propelors aswell with Diluted black acrilic paint for a smother prop look ,it seams that you have alot of spare time on your hands in japan carry on mate.

Good idea about the prop blades. Maybe even yellow tips? Also, do you have any information if the drop tank under the belly was ever used in IAF service? Regarding spare time, it is mostly in short sessions of about 30 minutes or so. I get to do it a few times during the week and also, the weekend when I don't have trips. As I said before, it is good therapy. Toda raba Thanks Isaac |
