Savoia S-21 (late engine version)
Pilot Marco Paggot (better known as “Porco Rosso”) as designed by our talented Allen Tam. Porco, sitting on the remains of the first Savoia S.21. A close-up of him sitting on the wreckage of the cockpit. “I guess I need a new plane” he said. Don’t worry Porco, you’ll get a new plane. It will be a new Savoia S.21. This time it will be slightly modified following Miss Fio Piccolo’s plans, with a totally new engine.

It's great to see you posting, Rubén.
You have built a charming diorama, and I'm glad to see the collaboration with Alan Tam. Don |

Well, I don’t know if it can be called a “collaboration”. Allen designed the plane and the figures all by himself; I just have the honor to build them I started with the nose compartment that holds the machine-guns and that is used by Fio to travel as passenger. I made a small mistake: I glued the middle bulkhead the wrong way and the wooden texture was facing to the wrong side. The port machine gun was assembled. Is not difficult, but it has several tiny parts. I will probably make only one machine-gun, since I would like Fio to get into the compartment. Next will be the cockpit and the rear inner structure of the fuselage.

Good looking gun. Too bad you only have room for one of them since her "butt is bigger than it looks."

I was going through my stash deciding what would be my next model. And I was seriously thinking on building a flying boat.
The intended victim was to be the FlyModel Catalina, which despite being an old and far-from-perfect print is a kit I like. But then I stumbled upon the printed pages of this Savoia, and found a box with the started gunbay and Porco. Since this is also a flying boat, why not finish it? Gosh, it's been 5 years already since I started it!!! There's some sloppy gluing, and I made several mistakes in the finishes and edges. Which can be clearly seen in the photos. But anyways I'm getting the hang of it again. And, after all, most of it won't be seen after I close the skins. Next step will be start working on the fuselage/hull skins. Thanks for reading! (I really hope next update won't take another 5 years)

Well, that's make the challenge even more enjoyable! I started the skin, working aft to fore. This time I used a different technique, which is giving great results. Using a different cardstock also helps a lot. In the first attempt six years ago I made the mistake of gluing all the upper skin at once, which made it much more difficult to close the bottom of the hull afterwards: I have the feeling this time I'll build a much better model

The padded coaming of the cockpit needed some time to shape it properly.
It was treated with a small amount of water, tortured and hammered into shape. I really like how it looks. Rear part of the fuselage is now complete: That's all for the time being. Thanks for reading
