Gigant [FG]

Doing another 'little' FG plane. :p
They just released it at 34.95 dollars. Yes, even more expensive than the Lancaster! (and if you were lucky and had an active magic key you would have gotten it for free!)

Am planning for the Me323 6 engine version with full interior, fitted for 2 tanks (probable Panzers, like the two AA ones from Bestpapermodels).

Is this a revised Gigant? Different than the one releases a few years ago?

I've never before seen Gigant in cardboard. It certainly looks to be both intricate and complicated to build, though extremely worthwhile.

I'm going to enjoy seeing this model emerge, as the original aircraft was so unusual.

Kind and Respectful Regards Legion my friend, Uyraell.

I'm just about ready to toss it into the paper bin... The plan to do the open version is nigh impossible. Those immense doors are the thing that troubles me. That and the usual rather lacking instructions regarding them. Nothing I did up to now is salvageable. At least i managed to save the cockpit and the 'glass' for it. Not that THAT fitted well...

Don't give up. At that price, keep at it. You might want to forget about the full interior and build it the clamshell doors closed.

It's gotta be revised. Everything fit when I designed it a few years ago.

I have this model, and would like to someday build it, why would it have fit issues now, but not when it was designed?

Legion, Your initial photos look superb. If you can gather your strength and push through, it looks like a very worthwhile model. Good Luck.

Fiddlersgreen Messerschmitt Me.323 'Gigant'

Hi legion!

This will be very interesting to follow. It is the biggest Fiddlersgreen model to date, and one of the most detailed (with the Blitz truck). I bought it when it was new, a couple of years back but I haven't built it yet. You are off to a really great start - the cockpit looks spectacular!

Good luck with the continued build!

Hi Uyraell!

There are in fact TWO Me.323 Gigant models - there is also an older 1:33 scale GPM release, that has been reprinted some years ago. I have that model, too. It's huge and extremely detailed.

Best,
Bengt

The GPM one is even bigger, the FG model is 1/38, according to what is stated on the sheets.

I got me some new ink cartridges and am going to print it on even heavier paper. 160gr/m^2 is too light for the Gigant.
