Glad you enjoyed that, Mike!
There seem to be many talented 3D artists who have access to good material for the Clerget - here is another I have found today, from Poland. No animations, but superb renderings of the engine. |

My pleasure, Leif! I just wish I could find as good stuff for the ol' Hispano Suiza engine.

Is the Griff Wason work of any help?
Hispano-Suiza V8 Aero Engine Hispano-Suiza V8 Aero Engine sideview Not as large size, but still a good sideview, and reasonable frontviews. Among paper models, the Orlik SE-5a has a very detailed and good engine. Leif |

Leif, yes I have seen the work of Griff, and it is very good, but it seems that rotary engines (because of their major symmetry?), Sopwith Camels and Fokkers are so much more popular with 3D artists and illustrators. I have filled in the feedback questionniare on Griff's site and mentioned my interest in the SE5a.
I have purchased the Orlik SE5a model, together with it's full set of laser-cut frames (to build the model with some of it's internal contsruction exposed for viewing). It is very detailed, and probably the best SE5a model available - who knows when I will get around to that, lol! |

Old Hangar Aircraft Illustrations
Hey, Leif!
What a sublime find, that 'Old Hangar' site, with illustrations made by Polish aeroplane artist Marek Rys! I have never seen so beuutiful and charming paintings of for example Werner Voss' Fokker F.1 103/17 triplane, which he has here chosen to give bright yellow wheels and a yellow cowling face, with the "Kaiser Willi" grin: Fokker F.I – Werner Voss - Airplanes - - Old Hangar Great find - thank you, Leif! / Bengt |

Bengt - honor where honor's due - the Old Hangar find was made by Bernoullis and nobody else. As was the find of the PJVision site.
They are both equally fantastic: Above: the Old Hangar. Below: PJVision. Gil, you really are very good at finding these invaluable books, now increasingly available digitally: However, the value of these books and sources is not realized until someone tells you that they are available, and where you can find them. So: Thank you Gil and Bernoullis! Leif Last edited by Leif Ohlsson; 10-08-2012 at 04:33 AM. |
