Very Cool............ with the advent of the new carbon fiber materials this is something that may just take off! Yeah I know, but I could not resist.

Can't be popular on a mass basis because of the safety issue. But, a few intrepid souls will make use of it.

I just wonder how it feels in really nasty weather on the road: Should be very susceptible to wind gusts and the front wheels will spray about a lot of water in heavy rain.
Still I would like to rent one someday, if only for the show! :D |

Think of the carnage on the roads when people have only two dimensions to deal with, then think what would happen when the third dimension is introduced.

It has two engines, one for flying, one for driving around on the ground. The latter engine is stowed in a cowling between the landing gear wheels when flying. It is shoved backwards when converting to road traffic, along two external rails, which still are there when flying.
When you realize this it no longer seems so pretty, or efficient, as it promises to be when seen on the ground... See this one: Plane driven - first flight Conceptually, you fly around with a small tractor tied to the landing gear. Is that really such a good idea? -L. |
