The struts saga is almost done...
I glue the external Struts, but only the inferior leg, for repositioning and correct align wing... All struts need a small corrections, mainly small cutings for adjustment... Until the next update... |

You get the engines put in that sucker will be ready to fly!
Are you having to put any wires inside the struts for support? Or did I miss that in an earlier post? john |

Thank's my friends!
John, in page 1 I explain about the use of orthodontic rigid wire, I use in floater struts. The advantage is a round format, but not friendly for glueing. Regards my friends! |

I really appreciate your careful and meticulous building techniques; particularly the use of foam in various sizes and pins for stabilizing the model in correct position while you're working on it. A lesson to be remembered. - Leif

After a little delay, the building continue:
One of the features not present in the model is central line struts, I scratchbuilding with wire and painted in royal blue (acrilyc) I make the fuel line and install the central cabane rigging with wire... Talking about wires, I glue all in the interplane section... Tail wires... My favorite material is cirurgical #0005 wire, I cutting in segments and glue with CA glue in gel... I making the engine cownlings... Finish cownlings... I make the propellers, but not like the hub (simple) so I started a scratch I sculping and sanded a toothpick for made the hub, and propeller connector I made with 50gsm paper scrap... I painted with acrilyc and glue in the place... Another missing detail is a radio antenna. Some photos this feature is show in Byrd plane, but in others no. For increase the confusion all plans (Paul Matt and a russian magazine Aero) in my references show this detail. I decide install the antenna. I made with heavy cardboard, and glue with CA. The piece are painted with acrilyc, and wire antenna is made with polyamide line, this was shredded and smeared with CA glue , for rigidity. The metal wires are not suitable for large parts. I scratch the rudder floaters. And my model finish. |
