Ecardmodels contest, Designer Nobi, Northrop F-89D Scorpion

I guess I've been bitten by the silver bug as well. Here are two pics. The first shows this model printed on silver paper as well as white paper. The second shows the color print and silver print combined and laminated to a heavier stock.

The model has been reduced from 1/48 to 1/72 scale to make it a bit more managable as a desktop model. This "fighter interceptor" is about the same size as a WWII B-25 bomber!

I just hope I get it finished by the Nov 30th deadline.

Cecil

Yeah, welcome to the "Silver-builds department"
Is it Red River paper?

Nope! It's Canford Frosted Silver. I've found that this paper can take a great deal of abuse so that's why I use it.

Hello Cecil, I have a question,
The paper I used is from a British company called Letraset, but unfortunatly stopped producing it, luckely I have already printed a lot of models on it.
I have a box of the Red river paper, but that looks more like chrome, which is good in some cases, but I prefer the "frosted" aluminium look, is the Cranfordpaper anywhere availble on the internet?

Here's a couple more progress pics. After I attach the wings I'll have engines, wing pods, external fuel tanks and landing gear to attach. Good thing that I still have the week to finish with the Thanksgiving holiday.

Billy, the Canford Frosted paper is mostly sold through retailers. You could try a google search and see what comes up.

I found a couple of sites that sell this fine looking paper.
CANFORD PAPER - COVER WEIGHT 8.5X11 FROSTED SILVER - IslandBlue

FROSTED SILVER 8.5X11 CUT C - Binders Art Supplies and Frames

Don't know about these sites, other than they came up recommended on Google.

Cecil,
Thanks for the tip about the paper. Judging by your excellent model this might be a solution to the glare problem with Red River papers!

willygoat,
I just placed an order with IslandBlue, will see how this works out.
