The wing booms/tips

The main wing have each a boom/ pod / tip tank structure that supports the outer panel that acts as a mixed rudder and probably ailerons.

The construction is conventional like any external fuel tank. It does have internal formers that are somewhat rounded rectangles. The extreme nose and rear need to be bent and shaped, but otherwise fit well

Question More on wings

The wing assembly as I said consists of 3 sub assemblies. The inner wings, the tip tank / boom and the outer fin. For now, I decided only to glue the tip tank / boom. The reason for that is that I can glue it later to the fuselage and make adjustments as needed like the dihedral. Then I will glue the outer fins.

The control surfaces and flaps will go on after the wings get attached to the fuselage.

One thing I noticed is the lack of a center wing box or any structural support. I am sure I will have to beef it up later.

Another thing, I decided to separate the main wheel wells portion that will fit in the fuselage. I don't think I will be able to fit the wing as well as match the wells.

Here are some more pictures

Fuselage

The fuselage of this aircraft is short and stubby. There is no tail section.

-The forward portion has the engine intake and nose gear ( also as a reminder, this model will need significant weight in the nose or it will be a tail seater! )

-The mid section
contains the cockpit, wings attachment and main gear wells. ( more fun awaits us there )

-The rear section tapers to a round engine exhaust assembly.

I started by building the sub assemblies for the engine intake and exhaust.

Intake assembly
A series of inlet inner lip connected to a cyclinder then going aft is a strange arrangement of a cone, a cylynder and and "engine face ". All the colored sides face the inside.
After you put this thing together, it sort of looks like a bar with wights on the end.
Problem: You will not note it until you start assembling the fuselage, but this subassembly can not be installed since both ends are bigger then the internal frame opening.
The solution I used later on was to cut the rear of the intake at the cylinder and glue the engine face directly to the cylinder opening.
Also, you will find out that the original part will not fit under the cockpit floor and has to be cut off anyway. ( details a bit later on that ).

Exhaust sub assembly

The design of the kit's exhaust will not fit this kit, so basically it will be re designed and built later

here is the kit design built anyway

Rear fuselage build

The parts are printed on heavy card and the colors are kind of dark. Also, the paper appear kind of "industrial" and not what I would consider high quality.
This will show later when the section that fit perfectly, show the connection joints. However since the fit is good, you can go on.

Cut the sections and the glue tabs. Attach all the tabs first. Some parts are a bit confusing, so if you cut them all ahead of time, mark them and attach them correctly.

lay out all the frames. I used the laser cut frames which really cut down on the assembly time and also made for a perfect fit.
Blohm und Voss P.210- Modelik kit 1/33 scale-dscf6861.jpgBlohm und Voss P.210- Modelik kit 1/33 scale-dscf6863.jpg

I started from the rear section going forward. My technique is to glue two sections together before I insert the frame.
Continue buy gluing each successive section until you get to the mid section ( part 15 ) , middle of the cockpit.

Notice that the center section is open on top ( for the rear cockpit ) and the bottom ( for the wheel wells ).

It will become obvious later that there is no internal support for the wing spars. That will be addressed later.

Since my exhaust sub assembly did not fit as designed, I left that part for later. However, you may want to build a correct exhaust at this time.

Despite the fact that you are finding some issues, you are doing a very good job.

Who is the designer of this model?

Smile Forward fuselage

As mentioned, you will have the engine inlet duct going thru back to the cockpit, so the inlet built earlier will be used shortly.

I started up front glueing the thin ring ( part 8 ) and then went aft. Part 10 comes in 3 pieces as it is separated by the location of the two gun ports.
Those 3 pieces are glued to the back of part 9 for a good fit. Add the forward most frame I ( the center is removed for the air duct ).
Continue aft with part 12 and then 13. The forward part of the cockpit is part 14 and it is open on top where the cockpit will fit.

Blohm und Voss P.210- Modelik kit 1/33 scale-dscf6881.jpgBlohm und Voss P.210- Modelik kit 1/33 scale-dscf6882.jpgBlohm und Voss P.210- Modelik kit 1/33 scale-dscf6883.jpgBlohm und Voss P.210- Modelik kit 1/33 scale-dscf6884.jpgBlohm und Voss P.210- Modelik kit 1/33 scale-dscf6885.jpg

At this point you can add the airduct assembly from the front. Again the rear of the airduct ( parts 1 and 2 ) are bigger diameter than the holes in the frame.
You have to remove both and discard them ( they will not fit under the cocpit floor anyway ). Trim the engine face and glue directly to the aft end of the duct.
The airduct fit to the nose section is a bit tricky, but is doable with care. Dry fit first. Only then apply a bead of glue to the perimeter of the duct inlet and pull it back.

Then match the nose section ( part 8 ). My build did not have a perfect match and there was a small "dent" in the inlet. That low spot was later fixed with repeat
use of glue and then sanded flush. I then painted the nose part and inlet in silver using a Sharpi marker.

The nose gear bay is added at the lower cutout. Add a bit of card stock for support where the nose gear strut will fit later.

Also, You must add enough weight up front ( see picture ) or else it will be a tail seater and look kind of silly.
Blohm und Voss P.210- Modelik kit 1/33 scale-dscf6900.jpg

Lastly, are the gun ports. I used black coffee straws/stirrer and cut the forward part at a sharp angle to match the skin cutouts.

Blohm und Voss P.210- Modelik kit 1/33 scale-dscf6893.jpgBlohm und Voss P.210- Modelik kit 1/33 scale-dscf6896.jpg

A note about the gun bays.

This kit comes with parts to make the two cannons and the gun bays. After closer study, I decided not to build them.
My reason was for both practical and estetic reason.
If you cut the skin and try to assemble the bays, they will need additional internal support.
Also, they do not look like they fit completly and you will have to make modifications. Secondly, this is a project aircraft and detailing the guns will
just take away from the funky aerodynamic shape this aircraft has.

If you built your cockpit section, do not assemble it yet as you will have a hard time getting a good fit for the front and rear sections.

Pictures attached.

Cheers

Isaac

Unhappy

A note

The card stock is thick and coarse. I did color the edges, by apparently not enough. I will go over the edges again.

Smile Cockpit

Not much to say here. It is a simple cockpit tub with a nice instrument panel. The side panels are glued to the inner wall of the cockpit section in the fuselage.

A note.
Do not install this sub assembly until both halves of the fuselage are joined ( you need access to place the weights and also have access to the wing supports you will need later on .
