ModelArt P-51 Mustang 1/32

To answer Michael's (Shoki, GreMir) challenge to show this fine model from Dr. Zarkov, here is a somewhat build thread of the model.

I didn't have the care of taking pictures of every step, but I have these.

The photos:

Cover of the Model.

This is the wing construction, and my references.

And a picture of the spinner under construction.

Fast forward one week later, and the result is this.

The canopy is under construction.

No canopy yet. Today me and my wife burn out half a dozen pieces of clear plastic, in the effort to make a decent canopy... UN-SUCCESS!

The darn thing never took its place in the mold I made (from Crazy Glue's Epoxy dough).

So I'm thinking on building the canopy the way Dr. Zarkov suggests... out of a transparent film paper.

The model is a great one. The design from Emil is superb.

The errors... are all mine.

I respect our fellow paper modelers that build spinners with advanced methods, with great results. But for me (at least this time frame of my life), I like the spinners to look paper-made.

I had problems with the wheels housing, but solve themselves in further steps of the built.

And also I had some references from the P-51 is the Santa Teresa New Mexico's War Eagles Museum, that by the way is not a truly P-51, but a TF-51 Dual Control Mustang.

Nice build so far! I'm interested to see how the canopy turns out.

I love the P51's I've had several flying models of them.... They're a great aircraft, and so far it looks like your build has captured exactly how they feel. At the end of the day that's what models are all about.

Best Regards,
Julian (Fozzy The Bear)

Thank you!
Model looks really nice. One question - did you print it on glossy paper or used some glossy finish on the printed pages?
