No.53 Dehavilland DHC-6 Twin Otter NASA version
No.53 the NASA Otter is up. Lucky enough that I could salvage some part of my computer to give this birdie a treat. Not sure when the computie will crash again?

No.54 Twin Otter in US Army green version. We've got black Otter, orange, yellow, white and green. Guess what colour will come up after this.

Now, having messed around with Ojimak's C2 as a side-track, I'm returning to a blue model, right, the Twin Otters Viking. The floats will be a tricky structure to do and let's see how it will go. The model is now masked and taped as I'm building it in glossy photoprints.

The float structure of the Viking is really the hardest part in all the Twin Otters that I've built so far. I have to install the floats and struts free hand without any rigs or anything like that to make the floats etc symmetrically fixed. Adjustments have to be made from time to time and I can only believe my eyes. One of the main gear struts fairing for the float was screwed up in the process but fortunately it was re-cut and fixed. Maybe that's the challenge in papermodelling. Anyway, it's considered done before I move on to do the rest of the model.

Been waiting for this one.
Fairings and floats are the bane of my modelling existence. Nice work on the Twin Otter collection so far. |

Hi, Niki, the floats etc are really a pain in the xxxx but once you have got over it, you'll be happy with what you have done. I thought doing fairing is one of your specialties and I've been making reference to your method of pre-installing the fairing before attaching to the fuselage etc.
