Now building the Cessna Grand Caravan DHL repaint for Aaron. Have to put on hold for a couple of days because of the Chinese New Year. Main wings are not yet glued in place, just sort of dry fitting only. Will resume work asap.

FedEx caravan is on hold for a couple of weeks. My company has sent me on a no-notice 2 week Overseas adventure. Sorry Murph, and anyone else waiting for this version.

Cessna 208 Grand Caravan DHL livery, original scale 1/33

The Cessna Grand Caravan DHL is finally finished on the second try. The first failed when installing the main landing gears. It was so frustrating that I actually tore up the whole fuselage up to the empennage to rant. Anyway, that's over and I have found an easier and sure or no-fuss way to install the main landing gear wire strengthener, as explained in the photos attached.

For those who plan to build the Grand Caravan, my advice is that the air intake structurers and the base plate should best be built from the inside. The way to do it is first build the first two sections of the cowl part. Then glue the intake structurers from the inside and then add the base plate.

As regards the main landing gear fairings, please note that the wider part of the fairing should face down. And add weight to the nose section as this is a sure tail-seater.

For this model, I used photoprints to give it a glossy look. However, some messiness because of the CA glue are here and there. They are hidden from camera views. Other than that, a small scrap chrome aluminium can sheet was used to make the spinning props hub and the fork (?) of the front landing gear.

The original scale of this model is 1/33 but I mistook it as 1/48 and shrank it down to what i believed to be 1/72. As a matter of fact, the scale of this Caravan I'm presenting is slightly smaller. OK, pictures, pictures, I know. Here they are....

That is a great idea. You must have been an engineer in a previous life.

Aero Commander U4B Army Version, originally 1/35

Another repaint, Aero Commander U4-B Army Version, is now up. Originally at 1/35, this model is now reduced to 1/72, using photoprints. Add-on's are spinning props, main landing gear suspensions and lights. The hardest part is the engines which house the wheel wells. Other than that, this is a fun build where no formers are necessary. Yes, don't forget to add weight to the nose section as this is clearly a tail-seater.

Here are the photos and the last one showing the Grand Caravan crossing path dangerously with the Aero Commander in the diorama.

Very good work on all accounts.I had to look up Wiki since I have never heard of this plane.Doing those engine cowlings correctly in any scale can be a challenge,I agree.
