The ram jets were only powered in flight and at speeds of probably over 400 MPH. At that speed, there is minimal effect if one engine at the tip shuts down because the vertical fin and rudder have more than enough authority. However, at low speed, there is insufficient rudder to counter the unequal thrust. Since those ram jets were not used at low speeds ( take off or landing ) it made no difference. Also, those were not primary thrust producers. It was the prop engine in the nose.
