Thanks, Don, Jeff and Rob. There are quite a few flying machines designed by LadNDad, see pics and I've got hold of 5 of them. I have browsed on the FG site and also found similar models under the same title Magnificent Men ........better not say anymore.

Thanks, gomidefilho and rixtoys. It's quite tedious doing the 20 winglets - the Venetian blinds.

Santos Dumont No.20 Demoiselle

Next of the flying machines is Santos Dumont No.20 Demoiselle, with the following history by LadNDad -

The world's first light plane was Alberto Santos Dumont's final contribution to the history of aviation. A small tractor monoplane the Demoiselle and despite its limitations became famous. The No.20 first flew at Issy in March 1909 with improvements over the No.19 of a 35 hp Duthell-Chalmers 2 cylinder water cooled engine and which drove a mahogany prop. The triangular fuselage was built from bamboo and steel tube. The wing area was enlarged although the control was still wing warp from a belt around the pilot's waist which made control very delicate.

The aircraft was displayed at the Grand Palace in Paris and by 1910 about a dozen planes had been ordered.

A replica featured in the film "The Magnificent Men in Their Flying Machines"

Well, did spend quite a lot of time rigging her and on the eraser is a rolled tube framework of the fuselage, another version that I intend to finish. Hope you enjoy the pics.

Papermate,
this is incredible finde detail for such a small scale! Well done!
Can you post a side-by side picture of the two aircraft from this thread so we are able to compare their dimensions better?

Best regards,
Thorsten
