Halinski 2004/1 Focke Wulf Fw-190 A-8
I've been looking at this model for a pretty long time now and finally I got it out of the box and started cutting
As you can see I have the laser cut frames, resin wheels, metal gun barells, canopy and I also scored cheap PE set for the Fw 190 F-8 (fighter-bomber variant based on the A-8) so will see how this goes

Result of two evenings, about 4 hrs total time spent.
Laser cut frames are great, but.... I found that slots are a tiny bit to narrow so I have to peel one layer of card from all the tabs to allow them to fit. Side panels are very weak in the kit so the PE set came in very handy to bring them to life.

Hi!
Good stuff! Lately, thanks to Heroes Over Europe video game (which is ... outstanding, best arcade flying game ever!cannot stop playing it...), I got interested again in fighter & bomber planes. Got this one since 2004 waiting for it's turn, but I imagine it may be loong time before I get to build it yet. Building report goes to my bookmarks and I am watching closely:D |

I built this kit eight years ago and failed in skinning in front of the canopy where skin is waved. You may be aware of it but please be careful.
Extra former around there could be a solution… |

Looks like a good start and plan, will be watching your progress, I don't have a FW or a 109....(built that is) should be good project, nice of Yu to give a heads up on a possible avoidable issue..

Thank you guys.
Yu, Thanks for the heads up. Laser cut formers have an additional former for the location in front of the canopy that supposed to be only used to help to shape the part. I will see how it goes.

Hello again, Mike. I'm glad for you, that you've started on something you've longed to do for a long time. I know you know about Wilfrieds's fine work on the-almost-same model by Halinski. Good luck with you build! - Leif

Thanks Leif.
Not much done today Instructions don't mention this, but the instrument panel and shroud assembly must be glued in place BEFORE top parts of the cockpit sides are glued. Otherwise there will be no way to slide the shroud in, short of pulling the cockpit sides apart - that's what I had to do... I'm skipping rest of the parts for the seat because little Heinz will perfectly cover it up when he is inserted into the finished cockpit.
