Hey there Skipper.... you must have the patience of a Saint. A lot of us would just give up on kits with fit issues such as those you are wrestling with on this model. You are doing a great job on a model that really isn't very well designed... My hat is off to you Sir ! If anyone can get something good out of a model like this, it's you.

Dear Boat,

Seem that the cockpit design and the landing gear cover design is extremely too rough and not properly actual details but you can made it come to alive with your professional craftmanship. Hat off and high respect from me again, boat!

Good to see Peter here also!

fuselage assembly continued

Ahoy Fellows

Jack and Grand son peter thank you very much for your replies, Before the model is done i will do some touch up on the details from the cockpit to the wheel wells, The kit is very ancient in design and fit of parts I already ran into 11 mis aligned parts from panel lines to the fit of the formers to the jopining skins nothing like the hobby model kit which this thread was originally opened up with..Some of the formers were undersized and I had to make new ones no sweat some skins had to be trimed where the but strip tabs are located at no more then 1/32 of an inch was cutted off. enough to throw off the panel lines alignments. but it what it is I will have to live with it but in overal view its a Thunderchief and it brings back alot of memories durring the vietnam war one hell of an airplane it is the B-17 of the cold war. Tomorrow I will have the fuselage completed and the tail feathers will be next here is the build report for the night more tomorrow.

Fuselage assembly continued

Ahoy
Hoe goes it shipmates, the build still goping strong beginning to give a boil in back of my kneck Ran into a few more misaligned fit isuues on the kit I had to make new formers and trim the skins down to make this thing work a cardmodel shouldn,t have to be built this way.. Although its understood that this a old kit and the designer got of whack on this design a really nice kit in overal view but the fit problems are anoying.. But I made it work the intire fuselage is done with the exception of tail feathers and other parts I am on it as of now I will post another update later this evening.. I just completed the thrust baffels on the rear of the fuselage when it was finished I went ahead and cemennted the skin 17 to skin 16 the whole basic fuselage id done vLetting this unit dry over night and give it a goods burnishing and a coat of Krylon clear spray magic in a can... As to the misaligned parts look at the star and bar on the port side its off not my fault here i got to live with it but it is a eyesore even the critic will go blind..So fellas if you have any flymodel kits of this your in a eye opening experiece so be prepared to go bald its a hair puller. But I will makie it work here is the update for now I prabaly will post another later this evening before i knock off and rest my eyeballs.

thank you Jack and Hmc I am happy you are reading this thread instead of the news the news to is nothing but gloom and doom these kids nowdays shooting up the world this what you get when you take god and country out of the schools and the belt out of the house terrible. Okay back to the build old boats eyeballs are getting tired time to knock off ships work and grab as beer anf watch the catcus grow on my window seal..Still have a few more parts to put on the fuselag I went to the tail the tail was no problem constructing nothing more then a boxed frame and spars..I was relieved that thee wasn,t any fit issues, tomorrow i will construct the stabilizers and finish up the fuselage and then go to the wings not very many partys to the flymodel F105-D there are no ordnance just external fueltanks thats it there is a bomb bay that is optinal and the wing flaps are optional I elected to go ahead build the Thud without those extra features. To say the least it looks like A thunderchief I hope my next build dont give me any trouble here is the last update build report the night more update tomorrow.
