Vacuforming the canopy

Now comes the tricky part. However, it was no big deal to vacuform it. I made 3 trials. Two were bad, but useful for initial fitting.

Once the canopy is formed and trimmed to fit, I then dunked it in Future floor polish. Great stuff.

Let it dry overnight covered to prevent dust attaching to it.

Thumbs up Canopy with frame

The framing for the canopy comes in the outer red color and the inner one in gray. Once you cut it, it is glued in place. Trimming is needed.

I still have to add more details like the scoop and the handle, but for now, here is what it looks like sitting ( unglued ) unattached to the aircraft. I may later on decide on an open cockpit configuration.

For now here are a few more pics.

I am taking a long break now and will finish it next month.

Cheers and enjoy.

That looks great Isaac! I like the mini tutorial on how to make the canopy plug. I'll be referencing that in the future.

Thumbs up Model complete

I got back and completed the aircraft. I will go back though and touch up the visible edges with more red color. The canopy was the last piece.

Here are some pictures:
