Nakajima Type 91 Betas 1/100 scale

Hi friends!

Is my beta build of Oddball Type 91.

This unknow machine is a advanced (at the time) japan army fighter of early 1930's, with uncommon features for this time, with parasol wing, minimal rigging cables and enclosed engine (nakajima kotobuki - bristol mercury).

The Type 91 is very used in the early stages of sino-japanese war, and replaced by Kawazaki Ki-10.

The Oddball offer two liveries of this classic japan plane: A IJA machine donated by popular subscription (unit unknow) and a Chinesese machine (Kwasangi Independent State), before the Chiang Kai Sheik unification. In 1930-34 Japan increase the support for some chinese states one is Kwasangi, in oposition of Nanking province, so the Chinese Type 91, is not captured machine, but a official component of Kwasangi Air Force.

The kit is very nice. The original scale is 1/32, the engine and cockpit area offer a good start for add extra custon details and his plane is very graceful. This kit is a good start of begginers in art of made biplanes because the rigging and installation struts is very easy.

You really have a nice little airplane, especially considering the scale.

I've never seen the chinese 'sun' with a red ring around it. . .do you know why this is?

I'm familiar with the japanese 'hinomaru', but I don't know chinese name for its national symbol.

The red ring is used by Chinese air force in 1920 - 1937 period, the Chinese Republic is made by a confederation of states, after Japanese invasion the central governement dissolve the provinces states and used more familiar chinese sun without red ring...
