AC-130A Ghost Rider (Dave Winfield)
Hello
My entry for the Cut and fold Challenge, the AC-130A, Ghost Rider. A step up in building techniques for me, but nothing too hectic, I'm keen! The model is in 1:48 scale and already it's big, and I've only completed the nose and tail segments. I'm running a dual build thread, here and at cutandfold.info - Index Progress so far: Close-up of the xenon lamp in the rear fuselage Nose sensor package Niki |

Nice touch on the window glazing. Good looking model and a fascinating subject.

Niki,
Absolutely perfect, as usual for you. I'll be following this one. Gary

That's nice buddy. I'm checking this one often for when ever I build mine. I think I have Azreal. She looks smooth and down right evil!

Looking good. I remember when I built her, so much fun.
HINT: If you are going to do her with the landing gear down and have it sitting on a table or shelf, you will need to put a little weight in the nose. I used 6 or 8 coins (pennies), it was a little to heavy so you might just try 4 or 5. |

oh EXCELLENT point! I always forget to do this (with so many models). Please clarify You are suggesting about 5 pennies? (as in US cents?) ...or an equivalent weight. How far forward did you put the weight? The further forward, the less weight might be needed? A standard American (or Canadian) One Cent coin is about 2.5 grams. 5 coins would equal about 12.5 grams. (a little less than half of an Ounce)

I remember seeing these monsters at Duke Field in northwest Florida.I spent some time stationed at Hurlburt,as part of the first SOW,where we had the AC-130 E's,and Spectre birds.

I put them in the nose cone. I would say 10.0 grams would do the trick. And like you said, "The further forward, the less weight might be needed." |

Cool, thanks for the heads-up. I intend to finish off the fuselage this weekend. Hopefully I can finish off the beast in the next 2-3 weeks.
