Albatros B.I (1914) - Military reconnaisance biplane
The Albatros B.I was a German military reconnaissance airplane that was designed in 1913 and was serving in WWI until 1915 when it was withdrawn. It had a Mercedes in-line motor with 6 cylinders and 105PS. The machine had two cockpits, for a pilot and an observer. The model shows an airplane of the Austrian Empire.
The model is from Orlik, in 1/33, and comes with a lasercut set which is very recommendable because of the very fine frame of the wings. The flyer is finished now and I will show you the most important steps in pictures with some comments. In general the model is a great one, excellent print, great fit of the parts. It comes with 447 elements plus 114 parts as pattern on more than 5 sheets. The model is extremely detailed and has a wing-span of 45cm. It was a really great pleasure building this model which can be recommended without reserve.

Part 2: Motor and cooler (?) condenser (?)
Both parts were made from a lot of very small parts which were glued together with CA. Additional material was copper wire (0,25mm) and normal wire (0,5mm), electrical wire (the gum part outside), thread.

Part 3: Wings
The frame was made from lasercut parts (very recommendable) and fixed to the fuselage with a wire which goes through it. The frame was glued to the bottom of the wing, then the upper part could be glued down to it after the wire was fixed. The pillars for the upper wings were first glued to the lower ones, then the upper wings could be glued in place.

And then, today, the weather was fine and the Albatros could go to where it belongs - up into the air....
