Fiddlersgreen DH2

This is Fiddlersgreen's DH2 in the large size. Downloaded over Christmas and have been wanting to build it since. I started cutting and glueing then remembered to take pictures. Ah well, age gets all of us. I decided to build the more accurate engine since it is so easy to see. Saturday night I will show ya'all how that comes out.

Fine Subject

I'm building also right now, scaled up to 1:16.
FG did a great job on this one with the coloring and illustration.
I Photoshopped the fuselage to change the color of the cloth to reflect the illustration on the sheet.

I recommend strengthening the floor, bulkhead behind the seat and the rear bulk head by gluing heavier board to these pieces. Adds a lot of strength and weight to the fuselage.

Found some nice photos from a plastic kit review so I'm detailing the cockpit.
Despite the simplicity of it, I messed up on the nose because of a mistake in my placement of the side panel to the inside of the cockpit but am fixing that by adding new side sections. I'll trim and sand the new edges. See photo.

PS: If you think my photo detracts or confuses people as to your build, let me know and I'll remove it. Don't want to steal your thunder!

I like watching two builds going @ same time. Each one get ideas and or tips from the other. Wanting to see how these turn out.

I will not do an online build competing with anothers - not nice.
I was just commenting and sharing a little.
I look forward to Zachs build, I can always learn more.
Also like to see FG models built.

Na, Jagloden. I don't see how it's a problem. Gives the people two perspectives on how two different modelers do things. I like to build things first as the designers intended and then after I think about any problems I had or any things I'd like to add I just build another. I am already thinking about adding the engine from the DII Fokker i just finished and Goldenbears' propeller instead of the one from Fiddlersgreen.

Ahh. I'd love a more detailed propeller. Is it available here or at his site?

Ringmaster, the Fokker DII is a beta going to be on Ecardmodels site shortly. I have the build on this forum under hand drawn models Fokker DII. Jagolden the more detailed propeller is also on this forum. It's goldenbears'. You take a picture of the wood grain you want. Print it, then run it through the printer again to print the black lines on the wood grain. Works well and I think I'll try it on the next one. I.m going to use the fiddlersgreen in this one. I was able to build the engine but the cylinders are too small. I subsituted the cylinders from the Fokker DII like I thought I would and it came out well. I also used florist wire to make the pushrods. I am having camera problems and will sent out pictures as soon as I can fix the problems.
