Sounds like this one (Source here).

Found the images with the help of Cooliris. A highly recommendable add-on to Firefox.

That is the aircraft. One of the things I remembered after I posted the reply was the large, black cowlings on the engine.

A couple of years ago, I sat down and tried to remember every type of aircraft I refueled in the four years I was known as a "POL"-man. I couldn't remember half of them, but as I go about looking through books and images online, I think, "I remember passing gas to that type."

I have planned to do a post on my blog of "aircraft firsts"...impressions of aircraft on my first look and the like. The stories will be at my blog here, which currently is my life, mostly my military career and the things I did.

But not to hi-jack from NOBI's gorgeous model, I will say there are a few things coming from his shop some might find worthwhile. Stay tuned to Thaipaperworks for more information.

I recall the Vermont ANG used to show up at Base Flight in CFB Cold Lake about twice a month with their B-57s, which were about the only US aircraft we ever saw that had been polished (not that they could compare with our T-33s in the shiny stakes). Their LOX systems leaked like a sieve though, and the pin bag which was just below the fill valve would usually be full of a pale blue liquid by the time the converter was full. This was the cause of a Light Col being somewhat peeved with me as he had stored his 35mm there for some reason, dunno if it survived a -292°F cold soak or not.

Ah the good old days, we saw just about every plane in NATOs inventory come through Cold Lake back then in the 70's.

Richard just sent me a 3 views drawing of RB-57...Thank you very much. I surprise with a wingspan, 221 ft mean around 70 cm in 1/48 scale. That's huge.
