this no' 317 f-4e is the last one that stay in USAF schema. he and some more phantoms came to israel during YOM KIPOOR WAR and there were not time to paint them. the squadron soldier called them "frogs" because of thair dark green colors. after the war, IAF started to paint them, and 317 was the last with 316. they painted to IAF schema in 1989. |

Well actually you have me drooling on your magnificent models...
The IAF one is wonderful in all the details and the weathering....amazing job. I was refeering though to the US SEA version where the colors are a little brighter and "sharper." This is how the Hellenic Air Force F-4Es looked like in 1974-1980. Then they were repainted to Aegean Blue and Ghost Camo but in the first years they looked just like your US model. |

The Phantom is one of my favorite aircraft of all time. Thanks for sharing this build and modification. And I'm asking your permission to take your final model picture in order to encourage my fellow paper modeller to build and aircraft model

That is a GREAT looking model of one of my all time favorite aircraft. Thank you for the interesting history of the aircraft with your discussion of their arrival to Israel and when they were finally painted. That is a great story about calling them frogs.
