A10, flying model by Ojimak

Ojimak has just released the A10 which is a pretty good flyer.
It is quite an easy plane to build. I didn't have the instructions
when I built it last night. I have made some modifications to the
nose cone to avoid damage when the plane stalls or hits the ground.
The nose cone reinforcement part on the template was separately
cut out with all tabs removed. They are then glued to a stack of
10-12 layers of scrap paper and then glued inside the nose cone part.

Another thing is that the engine intake fan details are missing from
the engine intake parts though they appear on the instruction pages.

I have test flew the plane, and catapulted it ,and it did perform well.
After a few flights, the nose canon was badly damaged - caved into the
gun pod when it hit the ground. So a paper roll is inserted into the canon
and strips of paper inside the gun pod. Finally, it's given a layer of CA glue
to further strengthen it. Don't forget to put a little paper roll as counter-weight
at the tail. The roll should be similar in size to that inserted into the nose canon.

Forgot to give a BIG THANK YOU to Ojimak san for a great design and it's free.
You know what, he has a B-52 on his drawing board. And I'm eager to see
it coming and anxious to see how it flies.

Although I really like Ojimak's models
(and I love A-10s)
I'm not liking this model.

The wings appear to be way too far back on the fuselage
and those engine pots are really odd looking.
Is this because its a flying model?

I know...I know..."its free, stop bitching"!

I'm not...I just don't think this is up to Oji's usual standards.

But your build seems to be very clean and perfectly fine.

Thanks, Dave, I think you're right about this being a
flying model that the positions of wings and engines
may be at odds with the real thing. Ojimak may be thinking
about the CG when he designed this one as he says all his
models can fly.

It depends on how you throw it. I held the fuselage just behind
the wings and tossed it out. It flew well. But if you hold the hand
grip under the belly, it won't perform too well. If you catapult it with
a rubber band, mine oh mine, it's excellent! So, you'll have to build it
and try it yourself.

It is downloadable from Ojimak's website. Just Google Ojimak and it'll
take you there.
