Hello all,

Thanks nebeltex for the information.

Next building step was bonding the wings, the wing tips will be bonded latter.

The fine fairing was bonded as is, except one part (see arrow) that was cut in half, to give a better shape with the vertical tail.

Building up to now was very smooth with no suprises, geting very close to starting the real fun - landing gear.

You may be able to find a view of the landing gear mechanism. I recall seeing it in an aviation magazine a few years ago.

Here is a video of an RC model retracts.

Exclamation landing gear

My friend just returned from the Imperial war museum in Duxford and snapped this photo ( among others ) of the F4F ( the British called it the Martlet ).

landing gear is shown well here.

Great build. I love the Wildcat. I might be able to help if you get into any trouble with the landing gear. I have a set of plans from Flying Models Magazine of a set of retracting landing gear. You could down size it for your needs. Why reinvent the wheel?
