The pilots among us know that you can fall in love with a flyin' machine as well as a woman.

And of course no mention of D-Day on the Australian mainstream news media. Apparently the goings-on of Harvey Weinstein are FAR more important than the sacrifice of countless GOOD men 74 years ago.

Dang, fell off my soapbox again...

I watched the !2 oc, 5 oc, and 10 oc News here in UK Rata. Not the slightest mention of D Day, but I took a stroll up to the village War Memorial and was pleased to find 12 other Vets there.

That's some small comfort I guess JohnM. But sheesh man. Never mind, like I said to Bruno, we still got this ever growing great hobby and forum to be happy about and to keep SO important events like that alive.

Regards, Garry G.

My faculty group at the USAWC meets every Friday for breakfast. My task is to send out the weekly reminder message on the preceding Wednesday. Today, I included this:

"Today is the Sixth of June. Seventy-four years ago, Allied forces landed on the beaches of Normandy. Seventy-six years ago, the Battle of Midway concluded with the loss of four Japanese aircraft carriers and one heavy cruiser and the loss of the carrier USS Yorktown. Both were momentous events with far-reaching consequences."

The Washington Post had considerable D-Day coverage, at least in the on-line edition. The New York Times carried the AP report on the commemoration at Colleville-sur-Merin France.
