I find the "33" painted in the middle of the Hinomaru in the first pic fascinating. In all my years of modelling, I do not think I have seen that.

Aircraft of 343 Kōkūtai (Genda's Blade) often had the aircraft number painted into the middle of the Hinomaru. One example is the aircraft shown below, a Kawanishi N1K2-J of the 301st Hikōtai (Squadron) of 343 Ku at Matsuyama Air Field on 10 April 1945.

Genda Minoru, who established 343 Ku composed of the veteran fighter squadron commanders and equipped with the Shiden-KAI, had been an assistant naval attache' in London during the Battle of Britain, was the chief planning officer for the Pearl Harbor attack, and became the first commander of the Japan Air Self Defense Force after the war.

Hei Don.
I have found other image of your "15" bird in Pinterest.
Really a pretty fighter.

Garry this repaint was done in gimp (raster). I now do all my repaints in Inkscape (Vector) so you can resize to any scale and the repaint won't get pixcelated. I have redone it in Vector so I will send to Ecard.

Good stuff. Thanks Brent. That N1K2 repaint you mention: is that a S&P?

It's the old N° 209 in the list.
This is one of those models I should revisit if I had the time.

I know, I know. I should leave the fun to modify and upgrade these older designs to the recolorists

Oh, and it really has been quite a while since I updated my list.
So here is the new version.
