Oddly our post war aircraft even in piston engine were just as competitive or better than the jet age Japanese fighters of the time. the super corsair, the bearcat/ tigercat the p80s were all better performers. and as Stalin once put it "quantity has a quality all its own."

Something I found about just yesterday-Tachikawa Ki-77.A long range record plane.

It looks a lot like very updated ANT-25 idea and it's just as big.Much, much more pleasing to the eye.

Some interesting suggestions (no requests )
Did a little update of the Kyofu (number) and added the prototype with counter rotating props.
Struggling with the choice of the next model. There are so many more to do.

Like this one below?
G10N Fugaku.
I'm wondering how huge would it be in 1/100...

45 by 65 cm. So very huuuuge.
And not many (good) technical drawings available.

Oh, and my looking for data does not necessary imply that I might be interested.

Happy, joyous, ecstatic: all of the above!

Latest design has been handed over to S&P Appreciation Society for testing. Results published ASAP.

Not such a surprise really considering the state of metallurgy of the day. The Me 262 for example had huge problems at low to medium speed and at high altitude where aircraft with highly developed piston engines had the measure of them. No idea how the Ar 234 with the same engines would compare for altitude work though. Consider that the German engines had a service life of around 10 hours while the early UK jets only managed 25 hours. Not exactly stellar performance.
