Hehe... Yes advantages and disadvantages exist in everything. This is efficient for people who don't own a color printer and have to pay per print in print shops. It saves money, paper, electricity and time. But for those who have weary eyes, Your models are already available to enjoy.

United Nations Sabres

Hello all!! Now that Bkensky made a parenthesis into the Japanese-Planes-Wave I take the opportunity to present this Sabres in United Nations recolors. It's a Wireandpaper idea, He's a United Nations man. No time for made the builds, let's see who has the time. Best Regards. Tony.

Thank you Bruno and Tony:
Good design by the Master and good recolor by the alumnus.
As you know I like to build UN planes. This is a treat. Unfortunately I can print a lot faster than build. My to do list is growing and growing.

Ps: I am sure that people from the Canarias would appreciate these exotic planes

Hello again and thanks once more for all contributions.
I appreciate your help with keeping this thread running while I'm at work.

When I'm not, I design.
Although what uninspired today, I started with this "flying cigar".
We'll see how far my enthusiasm will get me.

As Jose Luis says, it is certainly a G4M: Mitsubishi Navy Type 1 land-based attack bomber (Ichishiki rikujō kōgeki ki), which the Allies called “Betty” and the Japanese crews called Rikkō (short for rikujō kōgeki) or Hamaki (cigar).

Based on the bulged bomb bay doors and standard tail gunner’s compartment, I would say that it is specifically a G4M2a Type 24 with the turret removed (or not installed).

I await with interest the actual identification.

Don

To be honest, I have no idea which version it will be, since the 3-views I found are not very good and somewhat contradicting.

We'll see what it will become... if I get there one of these days

G4M Versions

Bruno -

These images are from Nozawa Tadashi (drawings by Komuro Katsusuke), The Encyclopedia of Japanese Aircraft (Nihon kōkūki sōshū), Vol. 1, Mitsubishi (Tokyō: Shuppen Kyodo, 1959, reprinted 1966), pp. 168-176.

1. Type 1 Land-based Attack Bomber Model 11 (G4M1)

2. Three variations:

G6M1 escort fighter (no bomb bay, three 20mm cannon, two in ventral gondola, one that could be fired from either side blister)

G4M2 Model 22 (more powerful engines and other improvements)

G4M3 Model 34 (self-sealing fuel tanks, armor, and a tail turret similar to that of the U.S. B-26)

3. Type 1 Land-based Attack Bomber Model 24 (G4M2-A) - 1,850-hp M4KT Kasai 25 engines and bulged bomb bay doors to accommodate an increased bomb load). This looks most like the image that you posted earlier.

There were, of course, a lot of variations.

Don
