Avalanche continues...
This time it's DC-8 in Air Canada colors. One of those crashed near Toronto YYZ airport in 1970,another form TCA airlines crashed near Montreal in 1963.
Very skinny plane, makes for a bit challenging model. One on pictures is larger version.Centre part of the wing under fuselage needs to be slightly corrected and black anti-glare panel in front of cockpit needs to be drawn with skinny black marker. That detail is too tricky to draw in PS in this scale.
Here is a couple of pics how I make and install wings.I make separate tabs from scrap paper and glue them about 1mm or 1/16 of an inch into rear part of wing.Glue wing wit proper line up and with fingertip close gap if any.Wing gets spar made from again scrap paper rolled on proper size dowel.I'm a fan of round spars-they are much faster to make, easier and can be rolled to any desired diameter.Tapering effect is best done just by squishing tube gradually from one end to another.Important detail-spar gets only a drop of glue righ near wing root.Gluing any more will cause deformation.
This model got me thinking about building one of DC-8 by Mr.Pilsworth (of course much smaller).Did anyone build one of them?
