Dear All:
It has been quiet!!!
Regarding the Macon, and I have not find nice pictures for this, so I am working from memory. As I recall the Akron and the Macon had their engines positioned internally in contrast to the German Zeppelins in engine pods hanging with their propellers.
So the American airships had a transmission shaft, and the propellers were able to swivel, helpful for taking-off and lading.
So the model should have a little pod/wire attached to the fuselage (?) / Hull (?). If you have access to photo-etched railing or grid use it would make your life a little bit easier.
Check this found while I was responding https://www.google.com/search?q=uss+...ed=0CAYQ_AUoAQ

As for your friend I salute him, he must be in his 90's.

Best regards to all.

Pablo.

ps: yes I approve wire on paper.

thanks for the pictures....great info

Hi Pablo
Thanks for the great collection of photos.....did not realize the engines were retractable....did know the engines could swivel but did not see how how would work.....think I will enlarge the scale some to be able to display the engines....now that i see how they work.
My brother-in-law's father is in his 90's now....he never flew the Akron or Macon of course but did fly the Navy blimps near the end of WW2 and for some years thereafter....he is a remarkable guy.
Thanks again for the pictures...a wealth of info.

My next model comes in two versions:

Here are some pictures of the troubled test build. some parts have been adapted for alignment, size and form. All should be ok now.

Thanks, Ikraos,

Here is my next one:

Nr 801 Braunschweig LF-1 Zaunkönig (D-YBAR)
Nr 802 Braunschweig LF-1 Zaunkönig (G-ALAU)

it's a little plane with a lot of fine struts (that would be perfect in metal). I did it in paper and it seems to work out ok.
This plane was conceived in order to make a safe and cheap plane for beginners. Just check the internet to find out what happened with it after the war. The story had a twist

Dear Bruno:
Very, very, unexpected, interesting, and let's say obscure, topic.
I had use aluminum from aluminum cans to produce planes, pourquoi pas?
With a tiny panzerfaust it should look great!
Regarding the twist, was more like a spin.
Should we call this the micro-Titanic of the air?
Best regards
Pablo.
