Silly story about Lightnings. ...

When the last Lightning Squadron (Can't remember the number) were re-equiped with Bionic Budgies (Jaguar), they left their Lightnings at Bruggen to have the engines stripped out. They used our nice, clean, covered parade ground (Disused Hanger) to do this, so needless to say, Pongo access was easily achieved.

We came soooooo close to liberating a Rarden Cannon for our private weapons collection, but we decided against it. Why? Well the Fly-boys were in such a hurry to ditch the beasts they actually left the pod fully loaded, and we didn't know how to 'make safe'. The MU techs had dropped it off, pushed it into the corner of the hanger, and wouldn't have anything more to do with it. Talking to them later, it turns out that a lot of Blue-Jobs would have been saved a lot of embarrassment and heart ache if we had nicked it. Apparently heads rolled in high placess over the incident, whereas, if it had just gone missing, no-one would have noticed.

Keep on snippin' ... Johnny.

I've downloaded one of your Boeings, it's the first jet I've made. It's also one of the worst builds for a long time - NOTHING to do with the kit - all to do with my fingers ;-)

The main reason for building it was to see how it fitted with my 1:300 airport, as I guessed, it's a bit big, the wingspan is wider than the runway.

I made the undercarriage using photos and a lot of guess work. Having the outline of the doors on the kit helped.

Anyway, I'm attaching a few pictures - don't look too closely at the plane ;-)

Cheers

Mike

I like it, Mike!

Don't worry, 40 meters is a typical width for runways and only the biggest airports have 60 meters. But if it still troubles you, you might want to build one of the 727s from post #421. Those were intended for short up to middle range traffic, and are rather small. They even had an internal boarding stair to be more independent from ground equipment.

I agree with Michi, the combination of aircraft and airport is very nice.

Use the RAF theory ... If the runway is 2" wider than the wheels, it's wide enough to land on. Or if it's a Herky-bird ... who needs a runway?

I'd be interested to see the undercarriage on your Boeing Mike.

Keep on snippin' ... Johnny.

Did anyone say Herky?
Here are some more versions of the model.
- USCG
- Belgian Air Force
- Fat Albert (Blue Angels)

and NO, I don't have the IAF vesion (yet), nor any other camo.
with three models I can take some days to create a new model.

The old hand teaching the new guy how to bait a Bear.

Thicker plastic packaging was the answer to the propeller discs.

The Lightning wasn't too impressed with the speed of the Bear, so I suppose I'm just gonna have to build a Bison for him to chase.

Just as I clicked to download those three Herky-birds, two of the big bullies buzzed my chimney. Coincidence, or a sign of what ?

Keep on snippin' ... Johnny.

perhaps I'll make some more this evening. Now I'm going to count all the models I've made lately.
These are great! ....But shouldn't there be a wing bulge?
